With the unveiling of the upgraded Altroz hatchback, Tata Motors has added two new high-spec models to the lineup –XZ LUX and XZ+S LUX. The company has also included additional features in the top-of-the-range Altroz XZ+ OS variant.
The enhanced 2024 Tata Altroz range comes with several new elements. The new Altroz XZ LUX, priced at Rs 9 lakh and above, boasts of a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen with an improved operating system, a 360-degree camera, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Adding Rs 65,000 will get you the Altroz XZ+S LUX, which includes another four airbags.
The top-tier XZ+ OS variant, previously available from Rs 9.65 lakh, has been upgraded with additional features like Tata’s in-car connectivity technology and an air purifier. This bumps up the starting price by Rs 34,000 to Rs 9.99 lakh. It's important to note these prices are for the petrol-manual models. The two latest trims are also available in petrol-manual, petrol-DCT, CNG-MT, and diesel-MT configurations. The Altroz XZ+ OS, however, only comes in a petrol form.
Some features were adjusted, with leatherette seats now being an exclusive feature to the Altroz Racer whilst others like the electric sunroof, cruise control, rear AC vents, automatic climate control, 90-degree opening doors, auto headlamps, and rain-sensing wipers remain a constant.
Even with these changes, the Altroz in 2024 continues to be powered by its 88hp, 1.2-litre, three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 90hp, 1.5-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine. The petrol variant also has an optional CNG kit. The introduction of the Altroz Racer came with the discontinuation of the i-Turbo version's 110hp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine. The standard Altroz features a standard 5-speed MT with the added option of a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic for the petrol variant.
Tata's Altroz persists in its competition with models like the Hyundai i20, Maruti Baleno, and Toyota Glanza. The innovative Altroz Racer, however, is pitted against the likes of the i20 N Line and Fronx Turbo.
In terms of upcoming vehicles from Tata motors, there are speculations of the Tata Curvv based on the available spy shots. Currently, the Tata Safari and Harrier are being offered with up to Rs 1.25 lakh off on MY23 stock during this month.
In the retail market, the on-road price for the new Tata Altroz in New Delhi starts from Rs 6,05,840. The images of the newly launched Tata Altroz Racer have been released to the public, projecting an image of class and sophistication associated with the revamped model.
