Price Increase in Big Electric 2W Makers Except Ola Due to New Government Scheme

The impact of the Indian Government's Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme on electric two-wheeler prices, prompting revisions due to the removal of FAME subsidies

From April 1st, with the introduction of a new initiative called the Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme (EMPS) by the Indian Government, almost all manufacturers of electric two-wheelers have consequently revised their prices. This scheme, as well as the removal of the FAME subsidy, is primarily behind the substantial increase in cost. ![Ather Energy](https://ctn-public.s3.ap-south-1.amazonaws.com/public_images/Ather Energy_01_20240413094104256705.png "Ather Energy") Ather Energy, for example, has drastically increased its 450 range prices, the most affordable of which is the 450S, seeing a price surge of Rs 16,000. The 2.9kWh variant of the more premium 450X has experienced a modest Rs 3,000 bump in price, while the premium 450X 3.7kWh model gets a striking Rs 10,000 price hike. Rizta Meanwhile, there were no price changes in sight for the newly launched and practical Rizta. Currently, the Rizta is the most affordable model and will likely remain popular due to its practicality. However, Bajaj has decided to raise the Chetak lineup prices by up to Rs.12,000. The Chetak Urbane variant now costs Rs.8,000 more, and the Chetak Premium comes at Rs 12,000 more. Vida Among the manufacturers announcing price revisions, the TVS iQube, one of the best-selling models, was not exempt, the base variant now costs Rs. 3,000 more, while its flagship variant, the iQube S, underwent a Rs. 6,000 price increase. Hero's EV division, Vida, also increased the prices of its two models, tacking on Rs. 5,000 to the V1 Plus model and Rs. 4,000 to the V1 Pro model. Ola Interestingly, Ola has not yet announced any price hikes for its electric scooters. It is speculated that the current prices will remain until April 15. As there are plans for the company to go public in the upcoming months, this could be a strategic move to maintain their current customer base. While nothing is confirmed, one thing is sure: Ola plans to announce both the Ola S1X delivery timeline and its new price on April 15, 2024, as confirmed by the Ola CEO. In conclusion, the EV industry in India is experiencing considerable changes in pricing. All top electric two-wheelers manufacturers, excluding Ola, have increased their prices as a direct effect of the new EMPS scheme implemented by the Government of India and the removal of the FAME subsidy, substantially impacting the industry.

New Milestone in Electric Vehicles: 8 Lakh Km Warranty on Electric Motorcycle

New Milestone in Electric Vehicles: 8 Lakh Km Warranty on Electric Motorcycle

Ultraviolette Automotive sets new standards with extended 8-year/800,000 km warranty on their flagship electric motorcycle, the F77.

Ultraviolette Automotive, a leading name in the development of electric vehicle platforms and battery technologies, has set new industry standards by introducing an extended warranty on their flagship electric motorcycle, the F77. Breaking new ground in electric two-wheeler ownership, the warranty offers coverage for eight years or 800,000 kilometers — a record in this sector. F77 This trailblazing electric vehicle company offers its new 8-year warranty package, which incorporates three distinct plans: UV Care, UV Care+, and UV Care Max exclusively to current F77 model owners, both nationally and internationally. These coverage ranges span from a respectable 60,000 kilometers for a period of 3 years to an unprecedented 800,000 kilometers over 8 years — an industry first that more than doubles the distance the F77 is covered under the previous warranty agreement. Further breaking down the warranty packages, the UV Care plan initially offered a 3-year warranty for 30,000 kilometers, now extended to 60,000 kilometers for the Original trim. Meanwhile, the UV Care+ plan comes with a 5-year warranty, previously valid for 50,000 kilometers, now augmented to 200,000 kilometers for the F77 Recon trim. However, the highlight is the UV Care Max package, which guarantees an incredulous eight-year warranty with the maximum mileage coverage extended from 200,000 kilometers to 800,000 kilometers for the Recon variant — a testament to Ultraviolette’s confidence in its product. F77 The Warranty Package is a promising commitment from Ultraviolette towards revolutionizing the electric mobility field, especially given that battery technology is known to be a major concern among prospective buyers. Backed by intensive efforts in battery engineering, exhaustive validation processes covering five safety measures, and battery technology designed for the future, the extended warranty provides an assurance of the uncompromising quality and trustworthiness of Ultraviolette’s electric motorcycles. The groundbreaking warranty on the F77’s battery and drivetrain was born out of a significant milestone—testing of one F77 motorcycle reaching over 100,000 kilometers while maintaining more than 95% of its rated capacity. Recent evaluations conducted at ARAI further validate this remarkable achievement, demonstrating an impressive IDC range up to 304 kilometers on one full charge of this particular motorcycle. F77 Beyond its exceptional durability, the F77 is also recognized for its high performance. It can clock 0 to 60 km/h in just 2.9 seconds and reach peak speeds of 150 km/h, all thanks to a motor that generates 30.2 kWh power and 100 Nm torque. The F77 has also contributed to huge fuel savings during its on-road durability testing, amounting to INR 441,000. An upgraded version of the Ultraviolette F77 electric bike is anticipated to hit the markets on April 24, 2024, possibly incorporating some features from the F99 showcased at the EICMA 2023 Show. At present, the Ultraviolette F77 retails between Rs 3.80 – 4.55 lakh, with the upcoming version estimated to be priced significantly higher.
