Honda’s lineup of off-road bikes, which includes the Honda CRF 300 Rally, Honda CRF 300L, and Honda Sahara, have recently been sighted at a private feedback session in Bengaluru's Big Rock Dirt Park. This particular sighting, as uploaded by an Instagram user, hints at the possible launch of at least one of these models in the Indian market in the near future.
Honda, hailing from Japan, is known to frequently apply design patents for its diverse array of bikes in different segments in India. However, not every model makes it through to the local dealerships. This was the case for the smaller CRF 190L, which was patented in the country a few years back. This model was speculated to become the competitor of Hero Xpulse 200, but it never hit the market.
In the unwavering pursuit of competition with the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, KTM 390 Adventure (up for a generational update soon), Yezdi Adventure, and a host of other scramblers, Honda is now looking at launching the Honda CRF 300 Rally and Honda CRF 300L. Hero is also reportedly working on raising their bar with a 400 cc Xpulse.
Honda already stands tall in the Indian market with the sale of their CB 300R model that sports a 286 cc liquid-cooled engine. The same engine specification can be found in the CRF 300 Rally and CRF 300L, albeit with a somewhat lower power and torque output standing at 26.9 bhp and 26.6 Nm respectively. There are indications that the existing hardware of the CB 300R could be shared with the upcoming CRF range.
If Honda is indeed launching these models, they would need to pay close attention to competitive pricing, a crucial determinant of success. It remains unclear whether these bikes will be imported via the Completely Built Up (CBU) route or locally assembled - a decision that will play a pivotal role in pricing.
