Bajaj Auto, the popular automobile manufacturer, has launched a new exceptionally affordable variant of its Chetak e-scooter to the market, known as the Chetak 2901. The model has been designed to appeal to the younger generation and is priced at Rs 95,998. The Chetak 2901 comes with a steel body available in five different vibrant colors. Interestingly, this new model is Rs 51,000 cheaper compared to the premium Chetak variant.
The Chetak 2901 launch had been anticipated over the past month, following our exclusive report concerning the imminent release of a more cost-friendly Chetak model.
The design of the Chetak 2901 mirrors that of the other models in the Chetak range. However, it lacks certain functionalities. For example, the baseline Chetak 2901 comes with steel wheels and only one riding mode. Bajaj Auto has made additional features optional with the TecPac, which includes two riding modes (Eco and Sport), a reverse mode, hill-hold assistance, alloy wheels, and more – all for an extra cost of just Rs 3,000.
The Chetak 2901 also comes equipped with an off-board charger, similar to the Chetak Urbane, while the on-board charger is reserved for the Chetak Premium.
The Chetak 2901 shares its 2.9 kWh battery with the mid-spec Chetak Urbane, offering a promising range of 123 km. Bajaj has, however, reduced the top speed to 63 kph in comparison to the other models. The charging time is also slightly longer, taking a claimed six hours to reach a full charge.
The introduction of Bajaj Chetak 2901 onto the e-scooter market pits it directly against rivals such as TVS iQube 2.2, Ather Rizta S, and Ola S1 Air. Its reputation and competitive pricing should contribute to making it an enticing option for potential buyers.
It's also noteworthy that the price of the Ather 450 Apex has recently surged. The affordable Chetak variant could beat the competition in terms of price, range, and color variations.
The Bajaj Chetak Premium, priced at ₹ 1,19,000 * on road in New Delhi, has witnessed a range of reviews and views over the past four months, peaking the interest of the automobile enthusiast.
As always, we remind users to log in and share their thoughts and comments about the launch of the new Bajaj Chetak 2901.
Finally, while discussing Bajaj's new launch, this article would be incomplete without mentioning Bajaj's other popular bike, the Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z priced at Rs 1.85 lakh -- known for being the most affordable 40hp bike in India.
