Whilst the initial rear-wheel-drive Taycan appeared to lag behind its faster versions, the new RWD is far from disappointing in terms of performance. Despite an unchanged peak output, the 4.5 second 0-60mph time is a significant improvement from the earlier version, making it seem more responsive.
Additionally, the absence of additional accessories hasn't diminished the appeal of the standard suspension. Even without these, the basic Taycan, integrated with air springs and double valve adaptive dampers, offers excellent comfort and control. It notably establishes the Taycan as one of the best-handling EVs in the market.
Moving up in the range inputs extra performance, albeit at a greater cost. This factor, combined with generous equipment, helps offset the wide price difference between the base rear-driver and the Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo. The updated Taycan 4S remains a recommended choice in terms of value for money and performance, effortlessly offering high-end EV performance standards.
Indeed, other updates like regenerative braking, which blends seamlessly with traditional friction reduction, make it hard to distinguish the new from the old. Most other changes, including the interior revision and improved range, are more nuanced and may not immediately strike as significant upgrades.
Pricing may have increased, but innovations in battery technology, power capacity, dynamic features, and improved range make the second-generation Taycan an intriguing addition to the current high-end EV range.
