Recently, a Nissan Magnite Facelift was spotted being tested, marking the first time this updated model has been seen. Nissan's substantial investment in India has seen them making notable progress in consolidating their production operations there. In the pipeline are a multitude of new vehicles. The forthcoming Nissan Magnite Facelift will lead this new wave of launches, as indicated by recent sightings.
Nissan's intent is to replicate the success of Magnite with a refreshed model in 2024. The original Magnite played a pivotal role in sustaining Nissan's manufacturing operation in India and the facelifted version is expected to raise the stakes in product positioning and expand the company's sales scope.
Magnite has earned the commendation for being India's most affordable sub 4m SUV. It is competitively priced, considering the safety rating (4 Star GNCAP), design, and features it offers. These strengths will persist in the updated model which will work to perpetuate its status quo.
Recently, a test mule was spotted in Chennai. Even while concealed under deep camouflage, the distinctive profile of Magnite was hard to disregard, especially noticeable were the Lamborghini Aventador reminiscent integrated roof spoiler and the pronounced C-pillar shape.
Visible in these spy shots are only the profile and rear sections, with minimal changes noted. However, some new attributes include a fresh design for alloy wheels which are likely to be of 16 inches, fitted with the same 195-section tyres.
Though the interiors are not discernible in these images, a white dashboard can be spotted indicating it may not be the top-spec variant. It is hoped that the refreshed Nissan Magnite come with new features like auto-dimming IRVM, ventilated seats, cornering light function, and improvements in soft-touch plastics fit and finish on the inside.
On the exterior, the notable changes include new tail lights which could most likely be LEDs and a shark-fin antenna, a welcome change from the present model.
Despite its surplus for the Indian market, the possibility of a single-pane sunroof cannot be ruled out. Magnite is highly feature-rich and competitively priced. It comes equipped with an 8-inch infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a TFT instrument screen, auto climate control, push-button start, keyless entry, front and rear armrest, rear AC vents, Nissan Connect telematics, and many more.
As far as the powertrain is concerned, no drastic changes are expected. Hence, the same 1.0L 3-cylinder engine will persist, in naturally aspirated (71 bhp, 96 Nm, 5MT, 5AMT) and turbocharged (99 bhp, 160 Nm, 5MT, CVT) versions.

The Toyota Taisor, originally launched in India, has made its way to the South African market under a new name: the Starlet Cross. While this new export retains many of the features that define its Indian counterpart, it introduces a more powerful 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine, setting it apart from the original model.
The Starlet Cross distinguishes itself with Toyota's signature grille design, complemented by dual LED daytime running lamps connected via a chrome strip, and LED headlights positioned on the lower bumper. The all-black plastic cladding enhances its rugged appearance, and the vehicle is finished off with connected LED tail lights at the rear.

The most significant difference between the Taisor and the Starlet Cross lies under the hood. The South African version boasts a more robust 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine that generates 104bhp and 138Nm of torque. Customers can choose between a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
Conversely, the India-spec Taisor is available with two engine options: a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated engine producing 89bhp and 113Nm of torque, and a 1-liter turbo-petrol engine that delivers 99bhp and 148Nm of torque. Transmission choices for the Indian model include a five-speed AMT, a five-speed manual, and a six-speed torque converter automatic, as well as a CNG variant offering 76.44bhp and 98.5Nm of torque.
In India, the Taisor is competitively priced between Rs 7.74 lakh and Rs 13.04 lakh (ex-showroom). In comparison, the South African Starlet Cross is priced from R 299,900 to R 359,300, translating to approximately Rs 13.69 lakh to Rs 16.4 lakh.

French automaker Citroen is gearing up to introduce its Basalt Coupe SUV to the Indian market in August 2024. Initially showcased as a concept car in March of this year, the arrival of the Basalt marks the company's fourth offering for India under the ambitious C-Cubed plan. This new model is set to compete in the mass-market SUV segment, particularly targeting rivals like the soon-to-be-revealed Tata Curvv Coupe SUV.
The C-Cubed plan, which stands for Cool, Comfort, Clever, involves creating innovative, practical, and stylish cars for emerging markets, especially India and South America. Citroen's strategy includes the development, production, and sale of vehicles tailored to these growing markets. Notably, the Basalt will be manufactured in India and exported to South American nations. Although primarily aimed at these regions, it wouldn't be surprising to see the Basalt eventually being sold in Europe.
The Citroen Basalt is built on the Stellantis Smart Car platform, which also underpins both the C3 and the C3 Aircross. Measuring approximately 4,300mm in length, the Basalt is quite similar in size to the C3 Aircross. In its concept guise, the Basalt features a robust design with a two-part grille, a chunky bumper, projector headlamps, LED DRLs, and a chrome-lined Chevron logo on the front. Its profile showcases a sloping roofline, squared-off wheel arches, body cladding, and stylish alloy wheels. Audi has unveiled its new A5, which replaces the long-standing A4. This shift in nomenclature aligns with Audi's strategic approach to naming its models. While electric vehicles (EVs) will bear even numbers, internal combustion engine (ICE) models will be given odd numbers. The new A5 deviates from its predecessor's design as a sleek, four-door coupe and is now available as a sedan and estate.
The new A5 is built on Audi’s cutting-edge Premium Platform Combustion (PPC), which offers a fresh departure from the A4’s 17-year-old MLB architecture. It’s important to note that the PPC is distinct from Audi’s Premium Platform Electric that supports models like the Q6 e-tron and Porsche Macan EV. The A5 still features a longitudinal engine layout but is versatile enough to accommodate various electrified powertrains. According to Autocar UK, the PPC can support range-extender EV powertrains, but Audi has no current plans to introduce such a variant in the A5.
In terms of dimensions, the A5 has grown; it is now 67mm longer (totaling 4.83m) and 13mm wider (measuring 1.86m) compared to the A4. Its wheelbase extends to 2.9m, an increase of 68mm. The design elements of the new A5 include cues borrowed from the A6 e-tron sedan concept, highlighted by flared wheel arches—referred to as ‘Quattro muscle’ by Audi designers—advanced OLED light units capable of displaying up to eight patterns, and visible exhaust tips.
Inside, the A5 shares much of its technological advancements with the Q6 e-tron. The centerpiece is a large curved screen that combines an 11.9-inch digital driver display with a 14.5-inch infotainment touchscreen. This touchscreen also incorporates all climate control and seat heating/ventilation functions. As an optional feature, Audi offers a 10.9-inch touchscreen for the front passenger side, equipped with a filter that prevents the driver from seeing it.
At launch, the new Audi A5 will feature both ICE and 48V mild-hybrid powertrains. The mild-hybrid systems will utilize Audi's new MHEV Plus technology, which incorporates two motor generators, enhancing efficiencies and regenerative braking. This system can now recuperate up to 25kW of energy—significantly more than the previous 8kW limit—and delivers 18kW (24hp) and 230Nm of torque.

Given Audi India's history with the A4, it is highly probable that the new A5 will eventually make its way to the Indian market. However, it is expected to arrive only in the sedan variant and offer petrol engines. Once launched, the A5 will directly compete with the Mercedes-Benz C-Class and the BMW 3 Series.
Royal Enfield has globally launched its premium modern roadster, the Guerrilla 450. This release marks an important addition to Royal Enfield's lineup, aimed at revitalizing the company's declining sales. Fundamentally based on the Sherpa 450 platform, the Guerrilla 450 shares its robust 452cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine with the Himalayan 450.
The Guerrilla 450 is now available for bookings in both India and Europe. Set at an introductory price of INR 2,39,000 (ex-showroom) in India, test rides and retail sales will commence on August 1, 2024. European customers can expect retail operations to kick off by mid-August.

The Guerrilla 450 includes a variety of features aimed at enhancing comfort and stability. Structurally, the bike is designed with a steel twin-spar tubular frame. The front suspension is comprised of a 43mm telescopic fork, while the rear sports a linkage-type mono-shock system.
