Audi has unveiled its much-anticipated Q6 e-tron, an electric alternative to the existing Q5 SUV, which is slated for international introduction on March 18. The addition of the Audi Q6 e-tron will enhance Audi’s electric vehicle (EV) range in worldwide markets to eight. The carmaker anticipates a strong demand for the model in the increasingly competitive electric vehicle segment.
The standout feature of the Q6 e-tron is likely to be its lavishly appointed cabin, which includes a panoramic 14.5-inch infotainment display, a 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 10.9-inch screen integrated into the dashboard offering bespoke functionality for the passenger. The extensive use of environmentally friendly materials and some luxurious soft-touch surfaces further enhance the premium appeal of the cabin. The Q6 e-tron also boasts a generous baggage space and a front trunk for charging cables and smaller luggage bags, offering practicality to the owners.
The Q6 e-tron is the result of a partnership between Audi and Porsche. It is built on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) – the same as Porsche's Macan EV – and is expected to share a majority of its undergirdings with the latter. Despite yet to be announced performance rates, Audi has hinted that the Q6 e-tron Sportback would probably deliver an output of 470hp and 800Nm of maximum torque from its dual-motor, four-wheel drive powertrain.
Though the Q6 e-tron is expected to have a maximum range of 600km, it's the vehicle's rapid charging rate that stands out. The 800V electric architecture of the car allows for charging at speeds of up to 270kW, ensuring that the vehicle will spend minimal time tethered to a charging station.
Following the global debut, the Q6 e-tron is set to make its entrance in the Indian market. As of now, Audi offers a variety of EVs in India, including the likes of the Q8 e-tron, Q8 e-tron Sportback, e-tron, e-tron Sportback, e-tron GT, and the RS e-tron GT.
Additional related coverage includes a long-term review on the Audi Q8 e-tron and a preview of the newly designed Audi RS5 Avant set to debut in 2025. The global unveiling of the next-generation Audi Q7 is also anticipated by 2026.
As for Audi's vehicle pricing, it spans a significant range, with their models starting from ₹ 55.67 lakh and going up to ₹ 2.35 crore. The Q6 e-tron's price will be announced closer to the launch.
Ultimately, the unveiling of the Audi Q6 e-tron further demonstrates Audi's commitment to paving the way in the EV market and offering customers a diverse range of high-quality and eco-friendly vehicles.
