Suzuki recently launched the Ertiga Cruise Hybrid, a luxurious and more advanced version of its popular Ertiga GX Hybrid model. The Cruise Hybrid distinguishes itself with a stylish exterior design and a larger battery capacity. The automotive company has released this model in several South Asian markets, including Indonesia, where it enjoys considerable popularity.
Showcased at the 2024 Indonesia International Motor Show in Jakarta, this enhanced version of Ertiga generated much buzz amongst car enthusiasts. The Ertiga Cruise Hybrid was introduced alongside the India-made Jimny 5-Door, which was launched at higher prices than its Indian counterpart.
PT Suzuki Indomobil Motor has priced the manual variant of Ertiga Cruise at IDR 288 Million, which translates to approximately Rs. 15.3 lakh (ex-showroom) with the current exchange rates. On the other hand, the automatic variant of the car is valued at IDR 301 Million or around Rs. 16 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Ertiga Cruise model features a stunning exterior, available in two color variants - Pearl White + Cool Black dual-tone and Cool Black. Unlike the Ertiga GX Hybrid model which offers a range of color choices including Brave Khaki, Silky Silver, and more, the Cruise model has a more “Black” shade in its Cool Black variant, offering a unique, sophisticated look.
Suzuki has refined the Ertiga with the Cruise, making it sportier. Design highlights feature a shorter antenna, a snazzy front bumper with an underspoiler, side underspoiler, side body decal, rear upper spoiler, and a sporty rear bumper with an underspoiler. However, the standout detail could be the LED DRLs, missing from the regular Ertiga model.
Now, the burning question is whether Maruti Suzuki will incorporate this bigger battery in their Indian lineup. The K15B Smart Hybrid powertrain in Ertiga Cruise includes a larger 10ah battery improving fuel efficiency. This hybrid model is powered by a 1.5-liter petrol engine that churns out 104 PS of power and a torque of 138 Nm.
Analysts anticipate that Maruti won’t be updating the Ciaz model, the only model in India with the K15B Smart Hybrid powertrain setup, given its dwindling sales and the decline in the sedan market. On the other hand, the stylish design updates seen in the Indonesian Ertiga Cruise model might affect the premium sporty design appeal of the XL6 model.
