It has teamed up with General Motors to create a latest generation fuel-cell system that will be incorporated into a future fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) based on the CR-V model. Unlike the earlier Clarity sedan model, which was phased out in 2021, this forthcoming crossover - expected to roll out this year - will feature a unique design that marries a fuel cell with a battery pack.
A new teaser video demonstrates the advantages of bidirectional charging. It shows an individual at a remote location using the battery pack to power his coffee machine. He is later seen at a hydrogen filling station replenishing the two rear-mounted hydrogen tanks.
Honda's CR-V Hydrogen 2025 model under preview incorporates the ability of bidirectional charging, making it comparable to several battery-run EVs presently on the market.
