India welcomes BMW's high level 7 Series Protection, a luxury sedan equipped with the greatest protection levels to shield against bullets, blasts, and even ballistic missiles. This armoured sedan is tailored for highly-positioned individuals, VIPs, business leaders, and royalty, and it offers a plethora of features that reinforce its security parameters.
Exceptional Security Features
The 760i Protection xDrive VR9, a variant of the 7 Series, may look identical to its regular counterpart, but it carries significant upgrades beneath its standard exterior. The shell of this model boasts a 10mm-thick steel chassis, capable of withstanding bomb detonations. In terms of bullet-proofing, it is enriched with 72mm-thick multilayer bullet-resistant glass on all sides and additional underbody protection against explosives, such as two hand grenades.
The car also features a self-sealing fuel tank and run-flat tyres that can function for an estimated 30km at a speed of 80kmph, even after losing pressure. Other features include a switchless protection UI in its ALEA infotainment, a rear passenger privacy lounge, and an emergency exit through all four doors.

Under its robust exterior, the 7 Series Protection carries a 4.4-litre V8 petrol engine identical to the regular variant offered globally. This powertrain churns out 530 PS and 750 Nm, pushing the car from 0 to 100kmph in a mere 6.6 seconds. This high-level sedan also includes a four-wheel drive, a rear wheel steering system, with its top speed marked at 209 kmph.
Lavish In-Cabin Features
Despite being stocked with high-performing security elements, the 7 Series Protection maintains a luxury cabin identical to its regular variants and comes in various themes for greater customization. Its notable features include a 14.9-inch touchscreen display infotainment system, a digital driver’s display spanning 12.3 inches, a rear passenger 31.3-inch 8K display, and powered seats – both front, and back – with a massage function. In addition, it includes a state of the art Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system for superior sound quality.
How much does it cost?
Although BMW has set the 7 Series Security off in India, no pricing details have been shared till now. However, predictions place its probable price around Rs 15 crore. In comparison, the standard 7 Series in India currently falls within Rs 1.81 crore to Rs 1.84 crore (ex-showroom).
