As part of its ambitious plans, Tata Motors is expanding its EV line-up. Presently, the firm's EV portfolio is made up of four models - the Tiago EV, Tigor EV, Nexon EV, and the recently launched Punch EV. These vehicles have positioned Tata Motors favourably in the market, allowing the firm to target untapped spaces within the EV segment.
Continuing to push its boundaries in the EV domain, Tata Motors will introduce the Curvv and Harrier EVs this year. 2023 will witness the firm further boosting its EV roster with the Sierra EV and Altroz EV. Against this backdrop, the company envisages the contribution of EVs to its total volume increasing from the current 12-15% (17-20% in terms of revenues), to between 15% and 17% by 2024. Furthermore, Tata Motors foresees a quarter of its portfolio being composed of EVs within the next three years, a figure it expects to hit the halfway mark by the turn of the next decade.
Noteworthy is the unique positioning of the Punch EV. Chandra also highlighted that the Punch EV is not expected to significantly cannibalise sales within the brand's own portfolio.
Tata Motors is also expanding its retail presence with the opening of two flagship EV-only stores in Gurugram last month. Plans are in place to extend this initiative with more such outlets in major markets across India in the next 12-18 months.
The company has also announced that Tata Punch EV deliveries will commence from January 22, 2024, while a Tata Punch facelift launch has been confirmed for 2025.
